RV Packing Tips

Packing for an RV trip, especially a long one, can feel daunting. What do you need to take versus what isn’t a necessity? Follow these packing tips, and you’ll be on the road, ready to go, in no time.

Start With A list

Relying on only your memory to remember everything you need to take will almost ensure you forget something. A few weeks ahead of time, start a list of everything you think you’ll need on your trip. This allows you to deliberate on the items you need versus the things you’ll pack but won’t end up using.

Pack As You Go

Instead of saving all your packing for the last minute, pack your belongings throughout the week before you leave. Yes, some things have to be added at the last minute, like toiletries, but items like kitchen utensils and clothes can be packed ahead of time. This method allows room for error, so you never forget anything again.

Organizational Tools

Using organizational tools can not only help with packing but also keeping your RV tidy along your trip! Stores like Target or Bed, Bath and Beyond have tools like over-the-door shoe racks and expandable shelves that can save space in your RV.

We suggest only taking the essentials. After a long trip, the last thing you want to do is spend hours emptying your RV. The fewer items you pack, the fewer items you have to unpack.

Have A Place For Everything

Make sure you have a place for everything you’re packing. If it doesn’t have a set place within the RV, it doesn’t need to leave your house. Or there’s something less important that’s taking up space that you can replace with something more necessary.

Fold Or Roll Your Clothes

If you’re going on a trip and plan to be on the road for a long time, use the roll or fold method to store your clothes. Items like t-shirts and pants can be rolled up or folded very compactly, so they don’t take up much space.

Don’t Overpack

In an RV you have a weight limit, but equally important is that you want to be able to use your spaces. It’s not easy to move around and successfully enjoy an RV that’s packed to the brim.
