RV Spring Cleaning

It’s finally time to get ready for summer! Whether you’ve had plenty of time on your hands to get your RV clean, or you’ve been so busy you can hardly think, now is the time to start preparing for your next great adventure. Start by having an RV that’s spotless, top to bottom.

Bedroom

  • Change and wash all the bedding. This includes sheets, blankets, pillowcases, pillows, comforters, mattress covers, and bed skirts.
  • Vacuum the carpet.
  • Make sure there’s nothing under the bed from last year’s trips.

Bathroom

  • Clean the bathroom mirror.
  • Disinfect the sink, faucet, countertops, light switches, and toilet.
  • Scrub the inside of the toilet bowl.
  • Wipe off the showerhead with a cleaner that removes minerals and rust.
  • Use a mild cleaning product on the shower walls and floor. Squeegee them to finish and get a streak-free shine.

Kitchen

  • Wipe the inside and outside of the microwave.
  • Clean your oven per the manufacturer’s instructions and wipe off the outside.
  • Clean the stove range, also per the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Wipe down the interior and exterior of the fridge. This is also a good time to get rid of any food that was left behind.
  • If you can, pull out the fridge and vacuum behind it where dust, pet hair, and dirt get trapped.

Everywhere

  • Sweep or vacuum all the hard floors.
  • Use a dry mop on tile, wood, or laminate flooring. (A wet mop has the potential to damage the mechanics underneath.)
  • Vacuum the carpet in the common space.
  • Dust and wipe down all the baseboards.
  • Clean out drawers, cabinets, and closet space. Get rid of anything you don’t use.
  • Vacuum and wipe down the insides of the cabinets.
  • Wipe all the windows.
  • Use your smallest vacuum attachment to clear away dust and dirt that’s in or around the window tracks.
  • Vacuum the window covers.
  • Change the batteries in your smoke detectors.
  • Dust the ceiling fan blades.
  • Dust all the cabinets, tables, and common space services.
  • Beat any rugs, mats, or removable carpet.
  • Vacuum the chairs, couches, and cushions.
  • Restock the essentials like dish soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
  • Remove air vents and registers to vacuum behind and clean dust from them.
  • Replace air filters.

Once you get through this checklist, the inside of your RV will be ready! All that’s left to do is make sure the outside matches the inside! Check out our other resources on getting the rest of your RV ready for your big trip.
